Monthly money checklist
Repeatable tasks — mostly expanded from Finance index habits. Run through after pay cycles; a full pass once a month is enough unless something big changed.
After each pay cycle
- Check MyState offset balance — target ~$31k (details)
- Confirm bills covered — rent/mortgage, utilities, subscriptions before moving money to investments
- Note any large upcoming spend — car service, insurance, etc.; keep extra float in offset if needed
Investments (on schedule)
- Vanguard top-up — only if offset is at or above buffer target
- Quick sanity check in Vanguard — contributions landed, no failed direct debit
See Vanguard for rhythm and login.
Monthly (pick a fixed day)
- Offset vs target — if consistently below ~$31k, adjust spending or pause Vanguard until rebuilt
- Macquarie float — any legacy accounts still holding day-to-day cash? Balance vs bills
- Finder (or similar) — quick look at savings rates for cash outside offset. Usually offset wins; only matters for float that cannot sit in MyState yet
- Subscriptions — cross-check Personal subscriptions for surprises
- Credit card — paid in full if using Macquarie/card flow from archived setup
Quarterly / when bored
- Re-read strategy pages — index, offset, Vanguard — still match reality?
- Will / beneficiaries — money section still accurate? Will
Not on this list
- Stock picking or daily market checks — not the strategy
- Copying account numbers into SaxDocs — use Vaultwarden
- Frollo — archived; net worth is offset + Vanguard + banking apps now
