Log into Vanguard

Vanguard holds Saxon's long-term investments — separate from the MyState mortgage and offset.

Login details are in Vaultwarden only.

Before you start

  1. Open Vaultwarden and search Vanguard.
  2. Copy username and password.
  3. Know that Saxon only invested surplus cash — after the offset buffer (~$31k) was healthy. See Understand the offset.

Investments go up and down

Vanguard balances change with markets. A lower number than last month is not automatically an emergency.

Step-by-step — website

1. Open Vanguard Australia

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Go to vanguard.com.au or the URL stored in Vaultwarden.
  3. Click Log in (often top right — Personal investor or similar).

2. Enter credentials

  1. Enter username / member number — paste from Vaultwarden.
  2. Enter password — paste from Vaultwarden.
  3. Click Log in.

3. Security check

Vanguard may ask for:

  • SMS code to Saxon's phone
  • Email code
  • Security questions — answers may be in Vaultwarden notes

Complete the step within the time limit (codes expire).

4. Dashboard

  1. You should see portfolio value, holdings, and transaction history.
  2. Note recent contributions — confirm scheduled transfers succeeded.
  3. Do not sell or switch funds unless you understand the tax impact or have professional advice.

5. Log out

On shared PCs: Log out when finished.

Step-by-step — mobile app (if installed)

  1. Open the Vanguard Australia app from the official store listing.
  2. Log in with the same credentials from Vaultwarden.
  3. Use Face ID / fingerprint only on a device you trust.

If the app is not installed, the website is enough.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
Wrong password Fresh copy from Vaultwarden. Login troubleshooting.
No SMS Phone plan active? Pay phone bill.
Locked account Call Vanguard client services — number on official site.
Deceased holder Stop trading; call Vanguard bereavement line with death certificate — do not guess transfers.
Forgot member number Vaultwarden note or previous email statement (if you have mailbox access).

Do not panic-sell during grief

Market drops are normal over short periods. Estate decisions should follow legal advice and the will, not a single bad week in markets.
