Make a mortgage payment

Saxon's home loan is with MyState. Repayments often run automatically from the offset or a linked account — but you should know how to check and pay manually if something goes wrong.

No account numbers in this guide — use Vaultwarden and the MyState app.

Before you start

  1. Log into MyState.
  2. Understand Understand the offset — payments usually come from money already in MyState accounts.
  3. Know the next repayment date and amount shown in the app (live figures — not stored here).

Step 1 — check if payment is already automatic

  1. Open the MyState app or website.
  2. Go to Home loan account details.
  3. Look for Repayments, Direct debit, or Scheduled payment.
  4. Note:
  5. Next payment date
  6. Amount
  7. From account (often the offset)

Most of the time you do nothing

If direct debit is active and the offset has enough money, the mortgage pays itself. Your job is to confirm, not re-pay every month.

Step 2 — confirm offset has enough money

  1. Open the offset account balance.
  2. Compare to the upcoming repayment amount plus any other bills due before that date.
  3. If offset is low:
  4. Transfer from Macquarie or another account if Saxon still used one (details in Vaultwarden), or
  5. Contact the bank if this is a deceased-estate or hardship situation.

Target buffer Saxon aimed for: about $31,000 in offset — see Understand the offset.

Step 3 — manual payment (only if needed)

Use this if direct debit failed, you missed a notice, or the bank asked for a one-off payment.

  1. Stay logged into MyState.
  2. Open Pay / Transfer / Make a repayment (wording varies).
  3. Choose To: home loan account (select from list — numbers are in the app, not here).
  4. Choose From: offset account (preferred) or another MyState account.
  5. Enter amount — at least the minimum shown on the loan screen; paying extra reduces principal if Saxon's loan allows without penalty (check loan type in app or with bank).
  6. Choose date — today for urgent; future date only if you understand cut-off times.
  7. Review summary screen carefully.
  8. Confirm with SMS code or security step if asked.
  9. Save or screenshot the confirmation reference for your records (not in SaxDocs).

Step 4 — verify after payment

  1. Return to Home loan account.
  2. Check next repayment date and loan balance updated as expected.
  3. Check offset balance decreased by the payment amount (if paid from offset).

When to call MyState instead of clicking

  • Payment is more than 7 days overdue
  • You received default or arrears letters
  • You are handling a deceased estate and are unsure who is authorised to pay
  • You want to change repayment amount or frequency permanently

Use the phone number from mystate.com.au — not a number from an unsolicited email.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
Direct debit dishonoured Top up offset; retry manual payment; ask bank to re-run debit.
Can't see "make repayment" Some loan types use transfer between loan and offset only — use Transfer menu.
Unsure minimum amount Loan summary screen → minimum repayment; call bank if unclear.
Payment posted but loan unchanged Allow 1–2 business days; then call with confirmation reference.
