Who gets what
A plain list of Saxon's wishes. For legal wording, see Read the will and the full will.
Technology — Ryan (brother)
Everything in this list goes to Ryan. He cannot sell any of it.
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Phone | Keep charged; do not factory reset without reason |
| Windows PC | At home on the network (192.168.2.200) — daily computer |
| TrueNAS server | Ugreen DXP 8800 — stores media, photos, backups (192.168.2.203) |
| Router / network gear | UniFi Dream Machine SE and Wi‑Fi access points |
| YubiKeys | Required for passwords and Cloudflare — give these to Ryan |
| Other tech | Tablets, consoles, peripherals — treat as included |
Ryan's job:
- Learn to use the gear (start with Guides overview) or store it safely until he can.
- Never sell inherited tech — that is a condition of the will.
- Use docs.saxobroko.com and vault.saxobroko.com when ready.
Until Ryan is ready, tech should stay unused but powered off safely — not wiped, not sold.
Docs and domains stay useful
Saxon paid for saxobroko.com and many online services. Ryan (with help) should keep paying critical ones until decisions are made — see Cancel subscriptions overview.
Money — not for family inheritance
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Who must NOT receive it | Family members (as inheritance) |
| Who MAY receive it | Saxon's children, evenly, at age 20, if they know the finance docs |
| If no children | Full donation to a charity — chosen by spouse, or immediate family picks the charity |
| Where it lives today | MyState (home loan + offset ~$31k target), Vanguard investments |
Executors and solicitors handle the legal transfer. See Contact banks and Money overview for survivors.
Offset and mortgage are not "free cash"
The ~$31k in the offset reduces mortgage interest. Moving it wrongly can cost money or breach loan rules. Get advice before large transfers.
Physical belongings — wider family
Anyone related through common ancestors Glenda or Lynette may claim remaining items — clothes, furniture, car (if not otherwise handled), kitchen goods, etc.
After claims:
- Donate or recycle what remains.
- Unusable material may be burned at a family gathering (per the will).
Photos and personal media
- Stored on the TrueNAS server, cloud accounts, and Saxon's phone/PC.
- Saxon warned: you will see upsetting content. Share the task; take breaks.
- Guide: Photos on the server (technical) — ask Ryan when ready.
Car
The will groups the car under general belongings (claimable by eligible relatives). Car insurance is a separate subscription — notify the insurer after death; see Notify insurance and utilities.
What stays running for a while
Some things are not "who gets the object" but who pays the bill:
| Thing | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| MyState mortgage | Keeps the home legal |
| Home utilities | Power, water, internet |
| Car insurance | Until the car is sold or transferred |
| Domain saxobroko.com | Keeps docs and email links working |
See Notify insurance and utilities and Cancel subscriptions overview.
Quick reference table
| Category | Recipient / rule |
|---|---|
| Phone, PC, NAS, network | Ryan — cannot sell |
| Money | Children at 20 OR charity — not family |
| Clothes, furniture, etc. | Relatives (Glenda / Lynette line) → then donate/recycle |
| Photos | Whoever sorts them — content warning |
| Passwords | Access via Vaultwarden + YubiKey — not written in these guides |
If this goes wrong
Someone took the server to sell
- Stop the sale. The will gives it to Ryan with a no-sell condition.
Family divided money already
- Tell the solicitor immediately. Estate law may override informal splits.
Ryan does not want the tech
- He still cannot sell it per the will. Options: store it, or discuss with a lawyer whether another arrangement is possible legally.
You need a single "owner" for the house bills
- That is an estate/solicitor question, separate from who claims furniture.
