Navidrome for beginners

Navidrome is the app for listening to music stored on the home NAS. It works like a private Spotify for the household collection.

Website: music.saxobroko.com

What you need

  • A phone, PC, or tablet
  • Wi‑Fi or mobile data (in Australia for away-from-home use)
  • Login details in Vaultwarden (search Navidrome or Authentik)

Step 1 — Open Navidrome in a browser

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Go to music.saxobroko.com.
  3. If Authentik appears first, sign in — same as Jellyfin (auth.saxobroko.com).
  4. Log into Navidrome if prompted (credentials in Vaultwarden).

Step 2 — Browse music

  1. Look for Artists, Albums, or Songs in the menu.
  2. Click an artist to see albums.
  3. Click an album to see tracks.
  4. Click the Play button on a song or album.

Step 3 — Use the player

Control What it does
▶ / ⏸ Play / pause
Next track
🔀 Shuffle (mix order)
🔁 Repeat album or song
Volume Device buttons or slider on screen

Music keeps playing if you switch tabs — on phone, use the app for background play.

Better experience — phone app (optional)

Navidrome works with many third-party music apps that speak "Subsonic" protocol. Common choices:

  • Ultrasonic (Android)
  • play:Sub or Substreamer (iOS)

Setup pattern (all apps similar):

  1. Install the app from your app store.
  2. Add server URL: https://music.saxobroko.com
  3. Enter Navidrome username and password from Vaultwarden.
  4. Save and browse library.

Exact screens vary by app — pick any well-rated "Subsonic client."

Step 4 — Search for a song

  1. Find the Search box (magnifying glass).
  2. Type artist or song name.
  3. Tap a result to play.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
Site will not load When internet is broken
Login loop Clear browser cookies for saxobroko.com; retry Authentik
No new albums Music is added manually or via automation — not instant like streaming services
Works at home, fails overseas Geo-block on homelab — expected
Skipping / buffering Check Wi‑Fi signal; try PC on ethernet

Playback issues at home affecting Jellyfin too? When media won't play.
