UniFi Wi‑Fi basics

Home Wi‑Fi is managed by a UniFi Dream Machine SE (router) and two UniFi U7 access points around the house. You do not need to open the UniFi app for daily life — only to find the Wi‑Fi password or fix connection issues.

Connect a phone, tablet, or laptop

  1. Open Settings → Wi‑Fi on the device.
  2. Look for the home network name (SSID). The exact name is saved in Vaultwarden — search for UniFi or WiFi.
  3. Tap the network name.
  4. Enter the Wi‑Fi password when asked. Copy it from Vaultwarden on another device if needed — see below.
  5. Wait for Connected or the Wi‑Fi icon to appear.

Find the Wi‑Fi password in Vaultwarden

Passwords are never written in SaxDocs. They live in the password vault.

  1. On the Windows PC, open a browser.
  2. Go to vault.saxobroko.com.
  3. Log in with your Bitwarden / vault account (master password + 2FA if enabled).
  4. Use the search box and type: UniFi, WiFi, or wireless.
  5. Open the matching entry. Copy the password field (click the copy icon).
  6. Paste into the device that is joining Wi‑Fi.

Tip: The Bitwarden browser extension on the PC can unlock faster — shield icon in the toolbar.

Where the hardware is

Device Role
Dream Machine SE Main router — connects to the internet (NBN) and controls the network
U7 AP #1 and #2 Wi‑Fi broadcasters — better signal in different rooms

If Wi‑Fi is weak in one room, move closer to an access point or check that the AP has power (small LED on the unit).

UniFi admin (optional, advanced)

Technical users can manage the network at the UniFi console. Login is in Vaultwarden under UniFi / Dream Machine.

Everyday users do not need the admin panel to watch Jellyfin or browse the web.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
Network name not listed Router may be off — Turn everything on
"Wrong password" Re-copy from Vaultwarden; watch for extra spaces
Connected but no internet When internet is broken
Wi‑Fi slow in one room Move closer to a U7 AP; restart phone Wi‑Fi (toggle off/on)
New device will not join Some guest networks are separate — use the main home SSID from Vaultwarden
