Access — passwords, keys, and logging in
This section is for anyone who needs to sign in to Saxon's accounts or this documentation site — including family after Saxon has died, or Ryan taking over the tech.
You do not need to understand servers or networking to use these guides. Follow the numbered steps in order.
Passwords are never in these pages
Usernames might be mentioned. Passwords, PINs, account numbers, and recovery codes live only in Vaultwarden — see Where passwords live.
Start here
| I need to… | Open this guide |
|---|---|
| Understand where secrets are stored | Where passwords live |
| Open the password vault in a browser | Open Vaultwarden |
| Read SaxDocs at docs.saxobroko.com | Open the docs site |
| Use the YubiKey that stays at the desk | Desk YubiKey |
| Use the YubiKey on a keychain (away from home) | Portable YubiKey |
| Something failed at login | Login troubleshooting |
| Learn what "2FA" means | What is 2FA? |
The three things you will use most
- Vaultwarden — vault.saxobroko.com — every password and bank login detail
- Authentik — auth.saxobroko.com — sign-in for this docs site (via Cloudflare Access)
- Two YubiKeys — small USB security keys; one at the desk, one on a keychain — for extra login protection on important sites
Recommended order (first time)
- Read Where passwords live — two minutes, saves hours of confusion
- Read What is 2FA? if the words "security key" or "authenticator" are new
- Follow Open Vaultwarden — you need the vault before almost anything else
- Follow Open the docs site — to read finance and server guides
- Keep Login troubleshooting bookmarked for when something breaks
Who should do what
| Person | Typical need |
|---|---|
| Spouse / family handling money | Vaultwarden → Finance (simple) guides |
| Ryan (tech heir) | Everything in Access, plus Home tech and Server how-to |
| Anyone reading after a death | Handover first, then Access, then Finance |
