Restart cloudflared

cloudflared is a small program on the NAS that lets websites like stream.saxobroko.com and dash.saxobroko.com work from outside the house (phone on mobile data, laptop at a café, etc.).

You do not need to understand tunnels — only when to restart and how.

When to use this guide

Restart cloudflared if:

  • Sites work on home Wi‑Fi but not on mobile data (and you are in Australia)
  • Many *.saxobroko.com sites fail at once (Jellyfin, dash, vault, dsm) but google.com works
  • Problems started after a NAS reboot or power outage

Do NOT use this guide if:

  • Nothing works at home either → When internet is broken
  • You are outside Australia → most homelab sites are blocked on purpose. That is normal.

Before you restart

  1. Test on home Wi‑Fi: open stream.saxobroko.com.
  2. Test on mobile data (turn Wi‑Fi off on phone): same URL.
  3. If Wi‑Fi works and mobile data does not while you are in Australia, cloudflared is a likely fix.

Step-by-step — restart cloudflared on TrueNAS

You need the TrueNAS web login from Vaultwarden (search TrueNAS or dsm).

  1. On the Windows PC, open a browser.
  2. Go to dsm.saxobroko.com (or https://192.168.2.203 on home network).
  3. Log in to TrueNAS.
  4. In the left menu, open Apps (may be labelled Installed Applications).
  5. Find the app named cloudflared (or similar — Cloudflare Tunnel).
  6. Click Stop.
  7. Wait 10 seconds.
  8. Click Start.
  9. Wait 2–3 minutes.
  10. On your phone (mobile data), try dash.saxobroko.com again.

After restart — test these

URL What it tests
dash.saxobroko.com Dashboard / tunnel
stream.saxobroko.com Jellyfin
vault.saxobroko.com Passwords

You may need to log in through Authentik first — that is normal.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
Cannot open dsm.saxobroko.com NAS off or still booting — Turn everything on, wait 10 min
No cloudflared app in Apps list Ask technical help — app name may differ; see cloudflared (technical)
Still broken after restart Wait 5 more minutes; reboot NAS once if safe; escalate to technical docs
403 error outside Australia Expected — geo-block, not a cloudflared bug
Only one site broken That specific app may be down — not always cloudflared

What you should NOT do

  • Do not delete the cloudflared app or its settings.
  • Do not change Cloudflare dashboard settings unless you know the External how-to docs.
  • Do not put tunnel tokens or secrets in notes — they stay in Vaultwarden.
